STATEMENT
My training as a traditional printmaker allows me the flexibility to explore changing applications of traditional processes combined with the introduction of new technology. While my work serves to convey ideas, the history of printmaking constitutes an important element to the narrative.
The making of prints originated as a medium for communication. It was not until the 18th century that art prints were considered originals. Not until the 19th century did artists begin to produce limited editions and sign their prints along with the technical information necessary to authenticate the work.
While I remain fiercely loyal to the fine art of printmaking and its evolving process, I am equally interested in its pursuit as a time honored strategy for communicating social and political messages.
